H.263 H.264 H.264 Comparison Between These Codecs ? Brief Explanation

H.263 H.264 H.265 codecs

Introduction

H.263 H.264 H.265 are the Video Compression Standard or H.263 H.264 H.265 are also known as codec.  These terms are defines encoding technique.

These three encoding techniques are based on quality and bandwidth. H.265 is more efficient than H.264 likewise H.264 is more efficient than H263. Where H.265 is very much expensive to use.

What Is H.263

H.263 is Codec or Video Compression Standard. It is known for its low bitrate compression format. H.263 was developed by the VCEG. VCEG stands for Video Coding Expert Group. It is the known as the part of MPEG 2 standard as SVH mode. SVH stands for Short Video Header.

This is old video compression format. H.263 is basically used in internet applications, Multimedia Message (MMS) and Video Conferencing. These internet applications are  Youtube and Google Videos.

Transcoding of H.263 is supported by the Wowza Transcoder.

What Is H.264

H.264 is next stage of H.263. It was introduced in 2004. H.264 is also known as MPEG 4 Part 10 AVC. Where  AVC stands for Advanced Video Encoding. It is more efficient than H.263 in terms of bandwidth and quality. So it provide us better quality at low bandwidth space. It is used in live streaming.

Use of H.264 compression format is most widely adopted for online industry. It have given growth to the delivery of HD content for online industry as well as Broadcasting Industry.

It gives less consumption of bandwidth near about 40-50 % in comparison with MPEG 2.

It also supports 4K content @ 59.94 fps for the resolution of (4096*2304).

It is not good for UHD or  Ultra High Definition Content. Because it consume more bandwidth and provide less fps.

What Is H.265

H.265 also known as HEVC. HEVC stands for High Efficiency Video Encoding. It was approved in January 2013. H.265 is specific to deliver high resolution video at same bandwidth used for H.264 compression. It can be used to deliver 4K premium content.

It is advanced version of H.264.

It consume less bandwidth approx 40-50% in compared with H.264.

It is good for delivery of 2K, and UHD content.

It support upto 8K UHDTV @ 300 fps.

It is too much expensive to use in compared with H.264.

Conclusion Of H.263 H.264 H.265

H.263 H.264 H.265 these three terms are used for encoding format. Its increasing order defines the more efficient version. H.264 is most widely used and accepted format. H.264 is more efficient than its previous version in terms of quality and bandwidth.  While H.265 is more better than its previous version H.264 in terms of bandwidth consumption. Because it provides same quality in less bandwidth consumption.
